Everyday Nut & Seed Granola

With World Menopause Day taking place on 18th October, it’s a timely reminder that supporting our health doesn’t require a complete dietary overhaul. Often, it’s the small everyday habits that make the biggest difference over time.

This homemade granola is one of those simple habits. Combining wholegrain oats, nuts, seeds and warming spices, it adds fibre, healthy fats and plant protein to help create a satisfying start to the day. It’s also easy to adapt using whichever nuts you have to hand, making it both practical and versatile.

While this recipe makes a generous batch, don’t be put off by the ingredient quantities. It makes around 30 portions and keeps well in an airtight container for at least a month, making it a cost-effective and convenient breakfast option that’s ready whenever you need it

This granola combines a variety of nutrient-rich ingredients that contribute to overall health and wellbeing:

  • Oats provide fibre, including beta-glucan, a type of soluble fibre that can help support healthy cholesterol levels.
  • Nuts and seeds contribute heart-healthy unsaturated fats, plant protein and important minerals such as magnesium and iron.
  • Rapeseed oil is rich in unsaturated fats and is a heart-friendly choice for baking.
  • Sultanas add natural sweetness along with fibre and plant compounds.
  • Cinnamon and ginger add flavour and warmth without relying on large amounts of added sugar.

Together, these ingredients create a breakfast that’s filling, satisfying and rich in nutrients that support heart, digestive and overall health.
